UP YOUR SMOOTHIE GAME WITH THESE EASY ADDITIONS

NUZEST PROTEIN POWDER – this is my paleo/vegan protein of choice. It tastes delicious and is full of the good stuff. And talk about epic flavours! I’m a bit partial to the Vanilla Matcha or Smooth Vanilla in a green smoothie, Real Chocolate, Real Coffee or Coffee Coconut in a cacao-based bevvy. (Nuzest Proteins are available at Innerfight).

NUZEST GOOD GREEN STUFF – its a multi-nutrient formula thats created with a blend of fruit, veg and herbs with added vitamins, minerals, probiotics and antioxidants. Did I mention it tastes good too? I have this every morning and so does the husband person.

PSYLLIUM HUSK – this stuff is full of happy crappy fibre, so its your digestive systems best friend. It’s also good for detoxing, because it expands in the body, soaking up water and helping waste move through the body, helping to make sure you excrete more of your waste.

MACA – this herb powder is high in vitamins (B1, B2, B12, C & E), minerals (such as zinc, calcium, magnesium & iron), and fatty acids Omega 3 & 9). It is also thought to help balance hormones and aid with menopause discomfort. It has a caramelly flavour so it tastes good in a  choccy/cacao-based smoothie.

CACAO – is full of antioxidants, iron, magnesium and fibre. Knocking up a cacao-based smoothie mid-arvo will help keep you full until dinner and help you curb that sweet craving.

SPIRULINA – on a gram to gram basis, spirulina has more beta-caratone than carrots, more iron than spinach, and more calcium than milk. It has a super high density of protein to boot. Ill admit, it doesn’t taste like chocolate, but mix it in with other goodies and you’ve got a power-packed drink.

CHIA SEEDS – these little guys are so easy to get your hands on nowadays! Full of antioxidants, iron, calcium, magnesium and Omega 3 fatty acids (that help raise HDL cholesterol, the good cholesterol that protects against heart attacks and stroke). If you sit chia seeds in liquid for 10 minutes it creates a gel, creating a nice thickness to your smoothies.
COCONUT OIL – this acts as a fuel for your body. Coconut oil contains medium-chain fatty acids which help increase metabolism. It’s also a good way to bulk out your smoothie, making it super filling.
