Things to do with Tahina that aren’t hummus

Just in case you didn’t know because you live under a rock, tahina is a condiment made from ground sesame seeds. It’s Paleo, vegan, full of good fats and bloody delicious. It’s also super easy to get your hands on a pretty inexpensive, particularly for those of us that live in the Middle East. It’s a great pantry staple to have on hand. Here’s some ideas how to use it…
DRESSINGS – mix it with lemon juice, water & a smidge of honey for an easy dressing for roast veggies and excellent with fish. Go to Asia by adding lime juice, coconut aminos & coconut sugar for an awesome nutty sauce for slaws, veggie rice or noodle dishes.
BAKING – I’ve had awesome success with brownies and cookies, and because tahina is made from seeds, these treats are great for lunch boxes (Put link here to the fig and sesame cookies recipe).
SMOOTHIES – tahina adds a thickening creamy texture to smoothies In place of nut butters
TOAST TOPPER – spread it on our toasted Multi-Seed Paleo Bread by itself, or add tomatoes or banana. Delish. (Buy our bread mix here PUT LINK)
NON-DAIRY MILK – easily blend 1/2 cup tahina with 3 cups of water & a pinch of salt. You can add a little sweetener such as dates/date syrup or maple syrup.
